Opening batter Kadeem Alleyne lit up the Desmond Haynes Oval with an electrifying, first-ever century in the second annual BIM 10 (T10) cricket tournament which entered its third day on Friday.Alleyne, a powerfully-built right-handed stroke player, smote the Titans’ bowlers to all parts of the Brighton, Black Rock home of the Carlton Club during his knock of 118, to help rattle up defending champions Settlers’ eventual 148 for two from their 10 overs, after they won the toss.Titans, led by knocks of 40 from Aaron Jones and 35 by skipper Ashley Nurse, finished on a respectable 133 for five in reply. One memorable stroke in Alleyne’s monumental innings came off express fast bowler Stefan Griffith, whom he flicked with sheer finesse and much disdain for six over backward square leg, to stir a buzz through the crowd of spectators who were royally entertained for the duration of his 42-ball innings.Altogether he lashed 12 sixes and seven fours in dominating an opening partnership of 146 with Demetrius Richards, who was rendered a mere spectator to the savage onslaught.Richards finished unbeaten on 20 after Alleyne was bowled in the final over by off-spinner Devon Phillips, whom he had stroked for successive sixes from the first two balls.
