Luanda — Angola has recorded six new positive cases of local transmission of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 58.

Speaking at the daily covid-19 update briefing, the minister said the new cases are Angolan nationals linked to the so-called case 26, resident of Futungo de Belas neighbourhood, in Luanda.

The case 26 is about an Angolan national who arrived in the country on March 18 from Portugal, having skipped home quarantine.

Due to the case 26, the health authorities have placed Futungo de Belas under a sanitary lockdown, pending the results of more than 300 specimens collected there.

Angola has 58 positive cases, three deaths, 17 recoveries and 38 active patients in stable condition, 31 of local transmission.
