The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has laid the groundwork for its US$180 million Afreximbank Africa Commerce Centre (AATC) in Barbados. The bank anticipates that this project would boost commerce and investment in the area., and Guyana stands to gain greatly from the project.

The institution is expected to open by September 2027 and will be the first of the bank’s trading centers outside of Africa.
