The Black men’s solidarity event brought hundreds of local Black men together at Freedom Corner.

Just some of Pittsburgh’s Black men who came together in a sign of solidarity against violence, addressing the crowd of hundreds on June 7 at Freedom Corner in the Hill District.

But in each of the speakers’ own way, one message was clear—self-inflicted violence in the African American community must stop, and violence inflicted on African Americans by police officers must stop.

Among the local African Americans who were killed at the hands of area police officers remembered were Johnny Gammage, Jerry Jackson, Romir Talley, Bruce Kelly, Mark Daniels and Antwon Rose II.

The event was led by the organization Stop The Violence Pittsburgh.
