Could Getting Fired Be Your Big Break? It Was For Designer Bailey Li!

Featuring a broad cross-section of women who have distinguished themselves across a rich variety of careers, our Portraits of Power series is a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Black Enterprise, and of black women.

Today’s portrait is interior designer Bailey Li.

My big break came when I lost my job in corporate America and pursued my side hustle of decorating spaces full-time.

What keeps me up at night are the moments I choose to worry rather than understand the power that peace of mind possesses, when I listen to thoughts that are not aligned with my true divinity rather than meditating on gratitude and mantras that will uplift and inspire me.

Portraits of Power is a yearlong series of candid insights from exceptional women leaders.
