The COVID-19 virus first hit the United States in January 2020; the first death here was in February; and by March, the virus had hit all 50 states!

It takes extra time to code COVID-19 deaths.

While 80 percent of deaths are electronically processed and coded by NCHS within minutes, most deaths from COVID-19 must be coded by a person, which takes an average of 7 days.

At this time, the FDA doesn’t require the manufacturers of testing kits to provide information on the accuracy of the tests.

The CDC wants us to keep in mind that when it comes to testing, “The test result only means that you did not have COVID-19 at the time of testing.
