I’m tired of people who don’t have to deal with the impact and after-effects of being hated for nothing more than something as incidental and irrelevant as skin color trying to tell me how to deal with it.

I’m tired of Black people not recognizing we need to fight for self-reliance and self-sufficiency instead of waiting for a person’s moral compass to align or for their generosity to kick in.

I’m tired of Black people not recognizing the inherent power and intellect we possess to be in charge of our own progress and destiny instead of feeling like we have to ask permission from white people to be great.

I’m tired of Black people complaining about their condition and place in this society but doing everything counter to what’s necessary to change the trajectory of their lives and their community.

Once you get the only Black key to the toilet at the Country Club, you feel so privileged to sit down and evacuate everything including your integrity next to white people, you forget about fighting for access, equity and justice for the people who entrusted you to fight for them.
