On Wednesday, Louisville Metro Council Public Safety Committee passed a proposal to reduce the no-knock warrants to honor Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old who was killed by the police.
On March 13, Taylor was fatally shot when Louisville police officers invaded her home without notice to serve a no-knock warrant based on a narcotics investigation.
According to Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, he thought someone was breaking in and fired a bullet.
Even after the killing of Taylor, no narcotics were found in the home.
“Had Breonna Taylor been killed by anyone except police, the person or persons responsible for her death would have been charged with a homicide,” Kenneth’s defense attorney, Rob Eggert, said in a court document as reported by WDRB.
