New York City public teachers and staff must get vaccinated against the coronavirus, officials said on Monday. The announcement means that teachers, principals, custodians and central office staff must get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Sept. 27, according to the New York Times. NYC has around 148,000 school employees and contractors. Unlike a previous announcement that required vaccines or weekly testing, teachers must get the COVID-19 vaccine, since weekly testing is no longer an option.
