Pennsylvania crept closer Monday to hitting a new milestone: nearly 80,000 COVID-19 infections since Gov. Tom Wolf announced the first cases on March 6.

Pennsylvania’s Department of Health [DOH] reported 323 new COVID-19 infections and 28 deaths Monday, bringing the statewide tally to 79,121 cases and 6,215 deaths.

Residents and employees of nursing and personal care homes represent about one in four infections statewide.

Residents of the facilities account for two of every three deaths in the state.

Healthcare workers comprise 7.6% of Pennsylvania’s COVID infections.
