THE EDITOR: I have been saddened by the news of the passing of BC Pires.

I lived and worked in Trinidad for seven years and my friends call me a Scottish Trini, and say that Trinidad is my second home.

I read three Trini newspapers every day, but I always looked forward to reading BC Pires's columns each week. He brought the full diversity of Trinidadian people into my home here in Scotland, and the interviews were never "dressed up," and were just written as they were said.

I'll miss them. Condolences.
