Uganda: Elections Without EU Observers

[Independent (Kampala)] Kampala, Uganda -- For the first time since the 2006 general elections, the European Union Election Mission will not have election observers in Uganda. Initially they citied the Covid-19 pandemic threat and ensuing travel complications for their absence but the government's non-adherence to previous election observation report recommendations appears to be the main issue. The EU has been sending the largest number of election observers in Uganda in the 2006, 2011 and 2016 elections.
