Emani McConnell-Brent, a 21-year-old high school senior, was diagnosed with APOL1-mediated kidney disease, a rapidly progressive genetic kidney disease that can cause kidney failure, and is now an ambassador for the American Kidney Fund to raise awareness about the disease.
