All four fired Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd’s death now face criminal charges, and all are in custody Wednesday.
J Alexander Kueng, Thomas K. Lane and Tou Thao are expected to make their first appearances at 1:30 p.m. before the same judge in Hennepin County District Court.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison on Wednesday charged Kueng, 26, of Plymouth; Lane, 37, of St. Paul; and Thao, 34, of Coon Rapids with one count each of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.
According to the charges: Lane and Kueng responded about 8:08 p.m. to a report of a man using a counterfeit $20 bill at Cup Foods on the corner of Chicago Avenue and E. 38th St.
They found Floyd sitting in a car nearby with two passengers.
Chauvin allegedly pulled Floyd, who was still handcuffed, out of the squad about 8:19 p.m.
Floyd landed stomach-down on the pavement, where Kueng held onto his back and Lane restrained his legs.
