The stage is set for the long-waited 2024 TNM Super League Awards at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe tonight.
Sponsors TNM plc, in conjunction with the Super League of Malawi (Sulom), will honour outstanding teams and individuals.
Sobhuza NgwenyaTNM plc Marketing Director Sobhuza Ngwenya said the event would celebrate the achievements of athletes, teams and sports personalities in the TNM Super League.
“The TNM Super League Awards not only recognises athletes for their skill and talent but also honours the spirit of team work, sportsmanship and dedication that make sports so inspiring,” Ngwenya said.
On his part, Sulom Vice President Ronald Chiwaula hailed all the stakeholders for contributing to the success of the 2024 season.
“We had a wonderful season. Going forward, we will continue to run the league professionally for the good of the game,” Chiwaula said.
Reigning TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers will pocket K100 million whereas Mighty Wanderers will get K40 million.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will receive K30 million.
In the individual awards, Wanderers midfielder Isaac Kaliati will get K2 million for winning the 2024 Golden Boot Award with 17 goals.
Kaliati has also been nominated for the Player of the Season award alongside Silver Strikers goalkeeper George Chikooka and defender Macdonald Lameck.
Additionally, he has been nominated for the best midfielder of the season award alongside teammate Wisdom Mpinganjira and Uchizi Vunga of Silver.
Wanderers new signing Masiya Manda, Creck Sporting Club captain Hadji Wali and Lameck have been nominated for the best defender accolade.
Three players—Mighty Tigers’ Lucky Tizola, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defender Chrispin Mapemba and Emmanuel Allan, who has joined Silver from Moyale—have been nominated for the rookie of the year award.
Player of the season will get K3 million.
Former Bullets midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu won the award last season.
He also won the best midfielder award.
Clement Nyondo, formerly of Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos, won the golden boot award.
