The Friday evening event at the Holiday Inn-Tanglewood honors men and women who serve the Roanoke Valley in areas such as faith, education, health, business, human services and communications. The NAACP branch will bestow a lifetime achievement award to the Rev. Nelson Harris, pastor of Heights Community Church, a local historian and former mayor.
