THE police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death of a 58-year-old man whose wounded body was found on the pavement in Claxton Bay on the afternoon of July 28.
Kalicharan Charles, 58, of Lodge Ali Road, Claxton Bay, would have turned 59 in November.
Investigators believed he might have been struck by a car and killed, as they found the left side door mirror of a Nissan vehicle near his body.
The body was found on July 28 around 2 pm on the pavement at the Southern Main Road near Beaver Distributors Ltd with multiple wounds.
He was lying on his stomach, wearing a black jersey and dark-coloured pants.
PCs Maharaj, Ramdial, Dado and Wilson, WPC Daniel and other officers from the Central Division responded and gathered evidence.
The DMO, Dr Kevin Ramadhin, visited the scene and ordered the removal of the body.
The Homicide Bureau of Investigation, Region Three, police were also alerted.
An autopsy is expected to be done later this week.
No one has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
