TOP SEEDS Nirav Dougdeen and Josiah Hills have recorded three consecutive wins apiece to stay unbeaten in the Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament boys’ Under-12 division one singles. Action continued at the Public Courts, Nelson Mandela Park, St Clair on Sunday.
After they each won back-to-back matches on Saturday, they extended their good run of form into round three on the second day.
Dougdeen, the number one seed, won the opening set 4-2 against Jacob Jacelon but lost the second 2-4. In the tie break however, Dougdeen prevailed 10-4.
Hills, ranked number two, swept aside Sanjay Ramcharitar 4-0, 4-0.
In other matches, Justin Duncan also remained perfect as he easily defeated Lucas De Verteuil 6-0 in the boys’ U-10 division two singles round three.
The girls U-10 singles saw Ysanne Williams beat Zelena Mohammed 4-0, 4-1 while Suri Ramcharan emerged 4-0, 5-4(3) victor over Rukha Campbell-Smith.
More matches were scheduled to serve off on Sunday but persistent rainfall postponed proceedings until after press time.
