Kraigg hits 94, West Indies remain in control vs Bangladesh - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

WEST Indies remained in control of the first Test match against Bangladesh being played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

On Friday, Bangladesh closed day two on 50/2 in their second innings still trailing West Indies by 112 runs.

West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph picked up both wickets to end the day with figures of 2/14 in six overs.

Opener Tamim Iqbal (22) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (two) were the two batsmen dismissed.

Earlier, West Indies earned a 162-run lead on first innings after scoring 265. West Indies resumed the day on 95/2.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite missed out on a century as he was sent back to the pavilion for 94. He faced 268 balls and struck nine fours.

Jermaine Blackwood also showed form, lashing nine fours in his knock of 63 off 139 deliveries.

West Indies seemed poised to post a larger total as they were 197/3 at one stage with Brathwaite and Blackwood at the crease.

Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed 4/59 in 22.5 overs for Bangladesh. Pacers Khaled Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain took 2/59 and 2/65 respectively to help keep West Indies below 300.

The third day’s play will bowl off at 10 am, on Saturday.
