Robert Brown was a 19-year-old introvert with a keen interest in engineering, science, and the Spanish language when he embarked on his first overseas adventure.In 2008, Brown applied for a scholarship which resulted in his studying for a first degree in chemical engineering at the Universidad Central 'Marta Abreu' de Las Villas in Cuba.
