IN ONE WEEK'S time, the price of Linda's bread is expected to rise, says CEO Peter George.
He made the statement on a local news channel on Thursday.
George said the price increase comes on the heels of the latest hike in the price of flour which went up by 33 per cent.
'There was a 65 per cent increase on flour, and when that works out to 70 per cent of your input, that's a lot.'
George said, in January Linda's Bakery absorbed the costs but could not do it again. He said, in January through speaking with suppliers, Linda's was able to save a third of the impact and absorb the balance.
In June the Kiss Baking Company Ltd announced that due to the 33 per cent increase in flour it would have to adjust the prices of its bread products by 11 per cent.
Also in June, National Flour Mills announced its 33 per cent wholesale price increase of flour, saying while it was able to secure sufficient wheat stocks to ensure an adequate supply, the cost of wheat went up by 49 per cent because of the Russian/Ukrainian war.
