On Monday, Dr. Marcus Jones made history when he was appointed Northwestern State's 20th president, becoming the first Black president in the university's 137-year history. The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors collectively elected Jones , according to KATC. His career with the institution spans 23 years, during which his roles included professor of business law and international business, vice president for university affairs, and executive vice president for university and business affairs. Since July, Jones has been the interim president, and he will become the university's official president on Nov. 15. "Northwestern is home to me. I know Northwestern and Northwestern knows me.
