Press Release:- CASTRIES SAINT LUCIA, Monday, September 20, 2021. Today, the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) will undertake emergency pavement repairs on a section towards the eastern end of runway, at the Hewanorra International Airport (HIA). The runway was closed on September 19, 2021, due to a failure in the asphalt surface. This closure necessitated the suspension of operations to facilitate a thorough assessment to determine the extent of the repair. The Authority has engaged a local contractor to undertake the repair works throughout the morning to facilitate the resumption of flight operations at 4:00 p.m. today.
