PUBLIC Services Association (PSA) industrial relations officer, Tobago region, Hayden Duke is maintaining that the government’s four per cent salary offer for public-sector workers is “unacceptable.”
Duke was speaking with Newsday on Friday,
The pay hike for 2014-2019 is still before a special tribunal of the Industrial Court.
“The PSA is one body, mind and soul. We are of the same viewpoint here and in Trinidad – we are not going to accept the four per cent.”
He said the negotiations for better terms and conditions went way beyond the "unsatisfactory pittance" offered as a salary increase.
“Using the percentage increase in gas prices alone and the fact of the increase of the consumer index of 25 per cent over nine years, it’s totally unacceptable to be offered such, much less to demand that it be accepted.”
