Tunisia on Sunday put into effect a week of coronavirus-prevention restrictions covering the Eid holiday, in light of the spike in COVID-19 cases.
The president also stressed the importance of keeping the economy open after months of stifling movement restrictions.
He urged citizens not to drop their guard and continue adhering to the health rules, such as wearing face masks and respecting curfew times.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh warned yesterday that the second wave of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was being spread by young people and appealed to them to follow the measures aimed at curbing the spread of the virus.
There are now more than over 500,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the continent, with a number of African countries imposing a range of prevention and containment measures against the spread of the pandemic.
According to the latest data by the John Hopkins University and Africa Center for Disease Control on COVID-19 in Africa, the breakdown remains fluid as countries confirm cases as and when. As of May 13, every African country had recorded an infection, the last being Lesotho.
