Amid cancellations of many in-person events because of the COVID-19 global pandemic, some of Haiti’s best musicians are coming together for a good cause; that is via a computer screen near you.
The untimely arrival of the virus has impacted Haitian Heritage Month events including Miami’s Haitian Compas Festival causing organizers to cancel.
On Sunday, May 17, from 7 pm to 10 pm, the Haitian-American Alliance Covid-19 Concert will be live-streamed on the Facebook and Instagram pages, and Youtube channel of the Haitian Times (one of the sponsors of the event).
An ambitious goal of $500,000 has been set by organizers which will be donated to the Haiti Global Health Alliance, the organization tasked to lead the response to the pandemic in the country.
The goal of the event, he said, is to raise money for those in the Haitian diaspora who have been hit hard by the pandemic, and for Haiti.
