[The Conversation Africa] Nigerians are no strangers to flooding. In some parts of the country, flooding is an annual event. But the intensity varies from one year to the next. In some years, the effects are minimal, in others, devastating. The 2022 floods have caused massive damage, like those experienced in 2012. Ten years ago more than 7.7 million people in 32 out of 36 states were affected. The recent floods have affected 1.4 million people in 27 states. Water researcher Nelson Odume explains what's responsible for the flooding
