GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (May 13, 2020) – Amerigroup Texas and its philanthropic arm, the Amerigroup Foundation, announced it has committed more than $1,000,000 in contributions to support COVID-19 relief efforts across Texas.
Amerigroup’s parent Foundation also continues to work with partners such as the American Red Cross, Americares, Direct Relief and numerous others, to ensure access to emergency assistance for individuals and families, personal protective equipment and training for health workers on the frontlines, and food for kids and families affected by layoffs and school closures across the state.
Amerigroup Texas helps improve health care access and quality for approximately 850,000 Texans by developing innovative care management programs and services.
Amerigroup Texas provides ongoing community relations and outreach to encourage consumers to become active participants in their health care.
Amerigroup Foundation funding is focused on critical initiatives working to address and provide innovative solutions to health care challenges, as well as promoting the Healthy Generations Program, a multi-generational initiative with five areas of focus: Healthy Heart, Cancer Prevention, Healthy Maternal Practices, Type 2 Diabetes Prevention, and Healthy Active Lifestyle.
