Congresswoman Johnson Announces $75 Million

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson announced today that the Texas Department (TxDOT) of Transportation is receiving an award from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) through the CARES Act.
TxDOT successfully completed their grant application and is now being awarded $74,581,554 in Section 5311 Rural Area Formula funds.
“These transit funds will help our inner-city busses continue operating at a time when our first responders need to
be able to provide critical services in our communities,” said Congresswoman Johnson.
The grant funds will pay for rural operations, preventive maintenance, project administration, and intercity bus operations in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The grant will enable rural transit providers to
continue operating established transit routes and to add new services to aid communities, including necessary trips to work and medical appointments.
