Cox Coaching School, Pro Series to meet in NLCL U15 final - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

COX Coaching School and Pro Series will meet in the final of the 2024 Next Level Consulting Ltd (NLCL) under-15 community cup at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella on July 13 after getting contrasting wins in their semifinal encounters at the Marabella venue on July 6.

Pro Series advanced from a tight group after getting a slender win over 2023 champs Ginga FC in their last group game, and their 2-1 semifinal victory over Union Hall United was another keenly contested affair.

Tyler Edwards gave Pro Series the lead after just 11 minutes, and they doubled their advantage in the 18th minute through a strike from Giovanni Garcia.

Union Hall fought back and they pulled back a goal just before the half four mark through a sublime left-footed free kick from about 25 yards from Antonio Hills. However, the South-based team couldn't muster another goal to stop Pro Series' march into the final.

Cox Coaching School came into the semis on the back of eight straight wins in group stage play, and their excellence continued in their encounter with City FC as they stormed to a thumping 4-0 win to book their spot in the final.

Lively attacker Akel Vesprey was the main architect of City FC's downfall, and he opened the scoring in the fourth minute and also rounded off the scoring in second-half stoppage-time to put the icing on the cake. Jaylon Sennon and Christen Gosine grabbed the other two goals for Cox Coaching School.

The semifinal encounter was marred by ugly scenes near the end of the match, though, as referee Rhondell Millington showed straight red cards to Cox Coaching School goalie Mikhail Clement and City FC's Kumani Campbell as tempers flared after a fiery clash between players from both teams near the former team's penalty area.

From 3.45 pm in Marabella on July 13, Cox Coaching School will put their nine-game winning streak on the line as they chase the NLCL title. They will also hope to keep their discipline and emotions in check against a Pro Series team that has already captured the Republic Cup boys' under-16 title for 2024.
