TNM Super League leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets take on unpredictable Dedza Dynamos in a midweek fixture today afternoon in an attempt to claim their first victory at Dedza Stadium in the Central Region.
Bullets have never defeated Dynamos at Dedza Stadium in the TNM Super League, with last season’s opening match ending in a goalless draw on April 6, 2024.
The People’s Team also dropped two points in their return match at Kamuzu Stadium on October 31, 2024, when the sides drew 1-1.
Since earning their TNM Super League promotion from the Chipiku Stores Central Region Football Association Premier Division, Dynamos have won once out of their past six meetings against Bullets, losing twice and drawing three times.
Pater Mponda
Bullets coach Peter Mponda said it would not be an easy task to break the jinx.
He was quick to say he was optimistic that his side would win.
Mponda was confident that his charges would not be affected by the league’s long break due to national football team commitments as some players featured for the Flames in the African Nations Championship qualifier against South Africa.
He said others who were not with the senior side featured for Bullets when they defeated lower-tier side Changalume Barracks 5-0 in a friendly match at Balaka Stadium.
“Much as football is also about history, but this is another match we are looking forward to winning. We will play for a win whatever the case and I am sure the boys are aware of the importance of this match,” Mponda said.
On the other hand, Dedza coach Andrew Bunya expressed optimism that, with a proper game plan, Bullets were a beatable side.
“It will depend on our approach when we meet with Bullets. We are hoping for a win at home and, surely, we will push for it,” Bunya said.
This will be the fourth match for Bullets, having already won three, beating Silver Strikers 1-0, Creck Sporting Club 4-1 and Songwe Border United 7-0.
Dedza will be playing their fifth match of the season after beating Creck 4-1 and Chitipa United 2-0.
They, however, lost to Mzuzu City Hammers 1-0 and Tigers 2-0.
Bullets lead the log table with nine points from three matches whereas Dedza are seventh with six points from four matches.
