No solutions from Government to problems - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

THE EDITOR: The longer I live the more I am left to wonder how did TT survive so long.

It seems there is no one in the Government with productive ideas. The Prime Minister has given Fitzgerald Hinds some muscle (based on his size) by appointing Keith Scotland (of bicycle and coal pot fame) as Minister in the Ministry of National Security. What is he supposed to do? Is he an aspirin to alleviate the pain that people are suffering?

The root cause of the rising crime is poverty. It has been well established that crime is more prevalent among the poor. Why then is the Minister of Finance allowed to strangle the population the way he is doing? He is increasing the level of poverty and someone should steer him away from the path he is on. Until that is done crime will certainly continue to increase.

Recently I wrote about the "swimming pool" along Morne Coco Road. I was pleasantly surprised to see a work crew show up and begin to work. Would you believe the crew has stopped trying to solve the flooding problem and is now building a retaining wall on one side of the road, and it has become a water retention basin for mosquitoes to enjoy?

About a month ago I received my property tax bill. On Monday I received a rental assessment. However, the assessment came with a different address and pin.

I went to the post office to report that I had received someone else's assessment, but I was told that Lands and Surveys had recently renumbered all the properties. My deed, which shows I own property #2, does not match with my new number, which is 26.

I have to ask: Will I receive a new property tax bill for the new pin, and should I get a new bill, which one will I have to pay?
