Health experts and dietitians at institutions like the American Heart Association and Mayo Clinic confirmed that people have in fact been picking up weight in quarantine.
“It’s not uncommon during periods of stress that people would reach for foods higher in sugar and fat – it’s comforting,” she told USA Today.
People are also juggling a lot of things at home, work, helping their kids with homework, and cleaning, just to name a few.
“Its fantastic people are learning to cook again, it’s one of the biggest things dietitians talk about because eating at home is healthier,” said Susan Wilson, a registered pediatric dietitian in Louisville, Kentucky, to USA Today.
