September 24, 2024 (PORT SUDAN) - Sudan's investment minister on Tuesday briefed a visiting Russian delegation on the country's need for investment in infrastructure, the state news agency SUNA reported. Minister Ahlam Madani Mahdi highlighted investment opportunities in sectors like roads, railways, energy, and electricity, calling them crucial for Sudan's economic development. The minister also outlined incentives and exemptions offered to attract investors, emphasizing the country's commitment to rebuilding after the war. The Russian delegation, representing over 140 companies, expressed interest in investing in free zones, transportation, and other sectors, according to SUNA. The minister noted the negative impact of the war on Sudan but said it also presented an opportunity to strengthen economic and investment ties. In April 2024, Sudan's military-led government agreed with Russia to develop economic and military ties before implementing an agreement on a Red Sea naval base.
