THREE Trinidad and Tobago teams recorded wins in the team events when action continued in the International Tennis Federation/Central American and Caribbean Tennis Confederation (ITF/COTECC) sub-region four Under-12 Tennis Tournament at the National Racquet Centre, Tacarigua on Wednesday.
In the boys' Group B round robin, TT's first team swept Guyana 3-0 courtesy wins from Nirav Dougdeen, Josiah Hills and Zelig Williams.
Dougdeen beat Elwyn Levius 6-4, 6-2 in the opening singles contest and Hills then made it 2-0 when he defeated Nathan De Nobrega by the same result. Hills then teamed up with Williams to trump Levius and De Nobgrega 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles to complete the sweep.
In the girls' division, TT's second team also cruised past Grenada 3-0. Madison Khan made light work of Carmel Mc Lawrence, winning 6-2, 6-2. Lilly Mohammed then got past Destinee Antoine 6-2, 6-1 and the TT pair then joined forces to triumph 6-1, 6-1 over the Grenadian duo in the doubles match.
TT's girls first team also emerged 2-1 victors over St Lucia. Makeda Bain won her opening singles via walkover while Abba Campbell-Smith trumped Jaelyn Henry 6-3, 6-2 in the second singles.
Campbell Smith partnered with Cheridine Sylvester to come from a set down 4-6 to win 6-0 10-8 in the double tie break.
On Thursday, action resumes with the girls and boys first teams against Grenada and US Virgin Islands respectively. TT's second girls team take on Suriname while Guyana play Antigua in the boys division. All matches serve off from 9:30am.
